Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)
I once had a girl,
or should I say, she once had me.
She showed me her room,
isn't it good, norwegian wood?
She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere,
So I looked around and I noticed there wasn't a chair.
I sat on a rug, biding my time,
drinking her wine.
We talked until two
and then she said, "It's time for bed".
She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh.
I told her I didn't and crawled off to sleep in the bath.
And when I awoke
I was alone, this bird had flown.
So I lit a fire,
isn't it good, norwegian wood.

Una vez tuve a una chica,
¿o debería decir que ella una vez me tuvo?
Me enseñó su habitaciión,
¿no es bonita?, madera noruega.
Me pidió que me quedará y me dijo que me sentara en cualquier sitio
Así que miré alrededor y me di cuenta que no había ninguna silla.
Me senté en una alfombra,
esperando mi momento, bebiendo su vino.
Hablamos hasta las dos
y luego dijo "es hora de irse a la cama"
Me dijo que trabajaba por la mañana y comenzó a reirse.
Le dije que yo no, y gatee hasta el cuarto de baño para dormir allí.

El Top 20 de los errores de un DBA de Oracle
En el Oracle user event International Oracle Users Group (IOUG), Rachel Carmichael, de Dragonfly Consulting, presentó los que a su juicio son los 20 errores clave de un DBA (Admnistrador de la Base de Datos de Oracle).
Muchos de éstos se supone que son bastante conocidos, pero yo me he encontrado invariablemente con alguno de estos problemas en situaciones reales. Es más, creo que, por lo menos uno o dos de estos errores se producen en la mayor parte de empresas.
1. No hacer backup de las bases de datos.
2. Como se hace un backup cada noche, no se hace un export.
3. No hacer pruebas de recovery, por no dejar a los usuarios sin sistema.
4. No monitorizar la base de datos. Es mejor que se quejen los usuarios.
5. Pensar que lo que funciona en una versión de la Base de datos va a funcionar en otra.
6. Que tenemos un problema de memoria, pues incrementamos el shared pool. A veces la memoria es más un problema, que una solución.
7. No cambiar nunca los parámetros que Oracle da por defecto.
8. Recrear las tablas porque tengan más de cinco extensiones.
9. Indexar cualquier columna en cualquier tabla, por si acaso.
10. Solucionar los problemas de espacio poniendo autoextend en cada datafile de cada tablespace.
11. No analizar las tablas, ni generar estadísticas.
12. Darele a todo el mundo "connect," "resource" and "DBA" privileges.
13. Para conseguir espacio de un tablespace, simplemente hacer drop de datafile y borrarlo del disco.
14. Solo se necesita un user account para todo el que quiera utilizar la base de datos.
15. Poner cualquier parche, sin antes probarlo.
16. Dar a los desarrolladores y consultores accesos ilimitados a la base de datos de producción.
17. No guardar un repositorio con el código fuente.
18. Pensar inocentemente que cada entorno (desarrollo, producción), base de datos o aplicación tienen el mismo código.
19. No hacer scripts, ni guardar documentos con las modificaciones.
20. Cuando sale una nueva versión, actualizar de inmediato e implementar todas las nuevas funcionalidades.
